What Happened to the Federal Tax Credit
The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (25C), which had provided a tax credit of up to $2,000 for qualifying heat pump installations, was not extended past December 31, 2025. If your equipment was installed and paid for on or before that date, ask your tax preparer whether you can still claim it on that year's return.
